Who I am
I love the work I have been called to do as a therapist. I began my journey of self discovery when I stepped into my first therapist's office 25 years ago. I was having an incredibly difficult time managing family issues, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, and overall unhappiness. With my experience I offer a warm and intuitive therapeutic approach that is supportive and direct to encourage, with choice (always with choice), thought, and growth. What started as commitment to my own personal growth has turned into my career and greatest passion. Using this incredible healing modality to help other people through difficult times is my greatest honor.
I consider myself a staunch ally to all who have been "othered" by society, whether it because of race, class, gender expression, culture, able-ism, sexuality, neurodiversity, or otherwise. It matters to me that everyone feels safe in this world, and I welcome everyone to a safe place in my practice.
I work with a range of couples and individuals who are working through acute crisis, persistent relational differences, or looking to continue growth.
Areas of clinical interest include: Chronic illness; Cross-culture couples & families; Couples in difficult patterns; Increasing emotional intelligence for dating; Depression; Anxiety; Shame; Trauma; Sex positivity; Multicultural: First- or second-generation/third-culture children; Exploring relationship (friends/partners) patterns; Chaotic alcohol and substance use (I am familiar with Harm Reduction and AA).
